The Al ilm Committee of the Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals (KAMMP)

AL ILM Education Financial Aid Program is a kitty intended to support needy undergraduate students from the major Universities of health sciences in Kenya including but not limited to; the University of Nairobi (UoN), Kenyatta University (KU), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Egerton University, and Moi Teaching Referral Hospital (MTRH). This idea was conceptualized by the Muslim Students Association of the University of Nairobi (MSAUN) – KNH Chapter and the Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals (KAMMP) in January 2021.

This kitty aims to support Muslim needy students from Colleges of Health Sciences across different Schools including but not limited to the following:

  1. School of Medicine
  2. School of Dentistry
  3. School of Nursing
  4. School of Pharmacy
  5. School of Public Health
  6. Medical Lab and Science Technology.

The following are the objectives of the Al-Ilm Education Financial Aid program:

  1. To enhance access to higher education through the provision of financial aid for students pursuing health science courses in various universities.
  2. To minimize incidences of dropouts, retakes, or deferments by students and subsequently lead to improved transition rates/completion of studies.
  3. To contribute to the increase in the number of qualified Muslim health professionals with a sense of social belonging, responsibility, and community service.

Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals

The Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals (KAMMP), an independent, professional, nonprofit organization established and registered in 1998 comprising of a wide range of Muslim Health Care professionals in Kenya from different Cadres, including  Medical Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Dentists, Nutritionists, Psychologists, and other Allied Professionals from Kenya and Globally.

All these professionals have come under the umbrella of this organization on a voluntary basis, for the purpose of building brotherhood within the Ummah through various outreach programs to the community, as well as enhancing professional development and providing a networking platform to improve healthcare and service delivery, both nationally and globally.

 

KAMMP was formed with the following objectives:

  • To promote Islamic medical activities including health services, education and research, through cooperation and coordination among member organizations.
  • To enhance the unity and welfare of Muslim medical and health care professionals in the country.
  • To educate on importance and application of Islamic principles in the field of medicine.
  • To strive in providing medical care and relief to affected areas and communities.
  • To promote member capacity building through exchange of medical information and technical expertise among member organizations.

KAMMP is a member of the Federation of Islamic Medical Association (FIMA) and works in close collaboration with Green Crescent Societies which work in liaison with the UN and WHO. KAMMP works closely with several professional bodies, The Ministry of Health as well as International Organizations such as Green Crescent Societies which work in liaison with the UN and WHO. KAMMP is also a member of the Federation of Islamic Medical Association (FIMA), an umbrella body of several Islamic Medical Associations globally.

OUR GOALS

  • To harness the power of volunteer medics and the generosity of donors in responding to emerging medical needs.
  • Provide charitable quality healthcare to the vulnerable population.
  • To build capacity of members through provision of scholarships, trainings, and workshops
  • To liase and work with humanitarian organizations with similar vision globally

  • More energized, collaborative and robust approach to KAMMP activities

  • Planning a foundation for financial independence of KAMMP
